Privacy policy

What we collect when you use this website or write to us, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are

Tingle Press, London, United Kingdom, is responsible for the personal information described here. Write to info@tingle.press about anything on this page.

What we collect and why

When you join the mailing list

We keep your email address so we can send you news of new books, events and notes from the press. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also just ask us to remove you.

When you write to us

If you email us, we keep your message, your address and anything you send with it, so we can reply and do the work. For commissioned work we keep the project correspondence and the files while the project runs and for as long as we may need them afterwards.

When you browse

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working.

What we don't do

This site has no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no tracking pixels. We don't take payments here, so we never see card details. We don't sell or rent anyone's information.

Buying our books

Our books are sold by retailers such as Amazon. When you follow a buy link you leave this site, and what happens next is covered by that retailer's privacy policy, not ours. We never see your payment or delivery details, and retailers don't pass us the names of people who buy our books.

Our legal reasons

  • To send the newsletter, because you gave your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • To answer enquiries and carry out work you've asked for, to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep the website secure, because we have a legitimate interest in doing so.
  • To keep business records, because the law requires it.

Who else sees it

Only the services that make the site and our email work: our hosting provider, the service we use to send the newsletter, and our email provider. Some of them process data outside the UK; when they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

  • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Enquiries: for as long as we need to deal with them.
  • Records of paid work: six years, as UK tax law requires.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. Email info@tingle.press and we'll respond within one month, as the law requires. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information we'll update this page and the date at the top. The terms cover everything else about using the site.
