The 2026 Women's Prizes for Fiction and Non-Fiction were announced on Thursday 11 June at the Women's Prize Trust's annual summer celebration in Bedford Square Gardens, London.

The fiction prize, judged by a panel chaired by Julia Gillard, was awarded to Virginia Evans for The Correspondent. The winner receives £30,000 and the Bessie statuette. The non-fiction prize went to the BBC's Lyse Doucet for The Finest Hotel in Kabul, her first book, which tells a recent history of Afghanistan through the Inter-Continental Hotel and the people who lived and worked there.

The evening also marked the Trust's wider work, including reader groups shadowing the prizes and its Discoveries programme for unpublished writers, which is of particular interest to authors working on a first novel.
