The 44th Sharjah International Book Fair, organised by the Sharjah Book Authority, ran for twelve days under the theme “Between You and a Book”, with Greece as Guest of Honour.
The organiser announced more than 2,350 publishers and exhibitors from 118 countries, split between Arab and international publishers, and a programme of over 1,200 events. As in previous years, the fair was preceded by the Sharjah Publishers Conference, a professional programme of rights meetings and seminars for publishers, agents and translators.
It is most useful for publishers and rights people looking at Arabic-language markets and at partners across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. For readers in the region it is a large public festival of books.
