As part of LL185, its programme marking 185 years since its founding, The London Library hosts the artist and writer Edmund de Waal in conversation with the journalist and broadcaster Kavita Puri on 1 October 2026, from 7pm to 8pm.
De Waal discusses his book an Archive, which considers collecting and collections: how objects are kept together, and how they are lost, stolen or dispersed. The conversation turns to what archives are for, how they work and what they are made of, including his own and his family's collections.
The event was originally scheduled for 24 June. Tickets start at £8, the bar opens at 6.30pm, and books are sold by Hatchards. For writers of non-fiction and family history, it is a thoughtful evening on the material behind the page.
