The 19th Jaipur Literature Festival ran for five days at Hotel Clarks Amer in Jaipur. It is directed by Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and produced by Teamwork Arts, and it has become one of the largest literary festivals in the world.
The programme mixed fiction, history, poetry, politics and science, with speakers from India and abroad. Alongside the main festival ran the Jaipur Music Stage, heritage evenings and the 13th edition of Jaipur BookMark, the festival's business strand for publishers, agents, translators and booksellers.
Readers and writers come for the talks and the atmosphere. For publishers and rights people, Jaipur BookMark is the part to plan around, particularly for translation and for South Asian publishing.
