The Jaipur Literature Festival is one of the best-known literary festivals in the world, directed by the writers Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and produced by Teamwork Arts. The 18th edition ran for five days at Hotel Clarks Amer in Jaipur.
The programme brings together novelists, historians, poets, journalists and public figures for talks, debates, readings and book launches, with music and other events in the evenings. Running alongside it is Jaipur BookMark, a business-to-business strand for publishers, agents, translators and booksellers.
It is mainly a festival for readers and writers, and a good place to hear from South Asian and international authors. Publishers and rights people will find Jaipur BookMark the most useful part, particularly for translation and South Asian markets.
