Independent Bookshop Week is the Booksellers Association's annual celebration of independent bookshops in the UK and Ireland. The 2026 edition, the campaign's 20th, ran from Saturday 13 June to Saturday 20 June, with Hachette UK as headline sponsor alongside NielsenIQ BookData and Gardners.
To mark the anniversary, the campaign named 20 Bookshop Champions, and Matt Goodfellow was announced as campaign poet. Ambassadors included the authors Kit de Waal and Katriona O'Sullivan and the bookseller and author Katie Clapham. Shops ran their own programmes of readings, quizzes, launches and workshops.
The campaign's regular features include the High Five for Bookshops gift card offer, bookshop crawls, guest bookselling by authors, a Big Book Club on the Wednesday and the Indie Book Awards. Readers can join in simply by visiting and buying from a local independent.
