Hay Festival Winter Weekend is the smaller, seasonal counterpart to Hay Festival's spring event in Hay-on-Wye. The 2024 edition was its 25th.
Events were held in a 350-seat marquee in the grounds of Hay Castle, in the castle's workshop space and in other venues around town, including St Mary's Church. The programme mixed conversations with writers, candle-lit storytelling, comedy, music and performances for all ages, while the town's independent bookshops, cafés and markets were open for the festive season.
It suits readers who want a shorter, quieter festival than the spring edition, and anyone who enjoys combining a few talks with time in the bookshops of Hay.
