The 2025 Goldsmiths Prize was announced at a ceremony in central London on the evening of Wednesday 5 November. The £10,000 prize, now in its thirteenth year, rewards fiction that breaks the mould or extends what the novel can do.
The judges, chaired by the novelist Amy Sackville, chose We Live Here Now by C.D. Rose, published by Melville House. They described it as a book about what art is and what it does, and as a novel that asks hard questions about the contemporary world.
The shortlist also featured Colwell Brown, Yrsa Daley-Ward, Sarah Hall, Ben Pester and Charlie Porter. Entry was open to novels published between 1 November 2024 and 31 October 2025 by writers from, or resident in, the UK or Ireland.
