The Goldsmiths Prize, run by Goldsmiths, University of London, with the New Statesman, awards £10,000 to a novel that breaks the mould or extends the possibilities of the form. Entry is open to novelists from, or resident in, the UK and Ireland.

The 2024 winner was announced at a ceremony at Foyles on Wednesday 6 November: Parade by Rachel Cusk, published by Faber. The judges, chaired by Abigail Shinn, described it as a meditation on art, gender and selfhood.

The shortlist also included Mark Bowles, Jonathan Buckley, Neel Mukherjee, Lara Pawson and Han Smith, with several titles from independent presses such as Galley Beggar, Fitzcarraldo and CB Editions. That record makes the prize worth watching for small publishers of formally adventurous fiction.
