The British Book Awards, known as the Nibbies, are run by the trade magazine The Bookseller. They recognise both books and the people and businesses behind them, from authors and illustrators to publishers, agents and bookshops. The 2025 ceremony took place on 12 May at Grosvenor House in London.
The overall Book of the Year was Patriot by Alexei Navalny (Bodley Head), and Percival Everett was named Author of the Year. James by Everett won the fiction category, and the Pageturner award went to Faebound by Saara El-Arifi, a fantasy novel published by Harper Voyager. Margaret Atwood received the Freedom to Publish award.
The trade categories, which include independent publisher and bookshop awards, are especially relevant to small presses.
