Bookshop Day is an annual one-day celebration of all high street bookshops, organised by the Booksellers Association's Books Are My Bag campaign with around 1,000 retailers across the UK. It is held on the second Saturday in October.
The 2026 edition falls on Saturday 10 October. The limited-edition Books Are My Bag tote has been designed by Jane Foster, and this year's City Spotlight, which commissions murals from local artists, focuses on Birmingham. A Choose Bookshops film is released in the run-up to the day.
Individual bookshops set their own programmes, which often include signings, offers and book club sessions. Readers can find a participating shop, pick up the bag and share their visit with #BookshopDay and @booksaremybag.
