The winner of the Booker Prize 2025 was announced on Monday 10 November at Old Billingsgate in London. The ceremony was broadcast live as a special edition of BBC Radio 4's Front Row and streamed on the prize's own channels.
The judging panel was chaired by Roddy Doyle, the 1993 winner and the first former winner to chair the prize, and considered 153 submitted books. The judges chose Flesh by David Szalay, published by Jonathan Cape. Told in spare prose across several decades, it follows István from a housing estate in Hungary to the homes of London's very wealthy. Szalay, previously shortlisted in 2016, became the first Hungarian-British author to win.
The winner receives £50,000 and each shortlisted author £2,500. The shortlist and reading guides are archived on the Booker Prizes website.
