The Bologna Children's Book Fair is the leading international trade fair for children's and young adult publishing, run by BolognaFiere. The 62nd edition took place at the Bologna exhibition centre, with Estonia as Guest of Honour.
It combines three events: the children's book fair itself, BolognaBookPlus for general trade publishing, and the Bologna Licensing Trade Fair/Kids for brands. Days are taken up with rights meetings, the Illustrators Exhibition, the BolognaRagazzi Awards and a large programme of talks. Publishers Weekly reported 1,577 exhibitors and 33,318 professional visitors, a rise of 5% on the previous year.
It is essential for children's publishers, agents and illustrators, and increasingly relevant to general trade publishers through BolognaBookPlus. It is a professional event rather than a public one.
