American Writers' Week at the British Library runs from 28 September to 2 October 2026, presented in association with Festival America in Vincennes, France, and the Library's Eccles Institute for the Americas and Oceania.
Participating writers include Alison Bechdel, Armistead Maupin, Daniel Kraus, Jeanine Cummins, Joyce Carol Oates, Katie Kitamura, Rabih Alameddine and Viet Thanh Nguyen, who appears in conversation with Nikesh Shukla. Each session is ticketed separately and can be attended in person or online, with concessions available and a discount for booking two or more events.
The week offers a concentrated look at contemporary American fiction, memoir and graphic writing, and a chance to hear how some of its best-known practitioners approach their work.
